Our Summer 2021 RTA Program will begin July 26, 2021.
We had a blast seeing so many new and familiar faces at the fields for the 4-weeks of our RTA pre-season program. Many have asked and we are excited to finally announce the details of our Summer 2021 RTA program.
We have CMLA REP coaches, CMLA alumni, Jr. A players and even current NLL players ready to get these kids back to lacrosse and have a great summer. For this program we will be adding game play and the hope is to offer 1 hours sessions consisting of 20 min practice + 40 min game for Paperweight-U15. SoftLax will continue to work on their skills while incorporating from fun games such as sharks and minnows which is always a hit.

When: 6 weeks from July 26th - September 2nd
Where: Soccer Field #4 and #5 located beside Bowmanville Indoor Soccer at Clarington Fields (2375 Baseline Rd W, Bowmanville, ON L1C 5M2).
Cost: SoftLax-Paperweight $100
U9-U15 $120
U17-U22 $15/session

Format: For this program we will be introducing game play. Our hope is with enough volunteers (please see below if you are able to volunteer even a few hours) we will be able to offer all players U7-U15 a 1 hour session consisting of 20 min practice and 40 min game.
SoftLax will continue to work on their skills and play a few fun games such as sharks and minnows.
U17-U22; we recognize many players in this age group have other commitments and many will be off to college in a few weeks so we will be hosting these age groups for a drop-in program

If you didn’t have a chance to get a stick for your new player we will have sticks available to for purchase at the sign-in station for $35.

WHICH DAY WILL MY CHILD PLAY?
We play Monday-Wednesday and will be utilizing 2 fields. Each age group will have 1 session per week. Thursdays may be utilized for sessions which need to be rescheduled due to weather or holidays. We are taking into account volunteer availability and considering other sports programs in our community to avoid conflicts as best as possible. Please see our preliminary schedule below and note adjustments may be necessary once we have final registration numbers.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
Volunteers are truly what makes the magic happen and we are always wanting to hear from parents, older siblings (did you know you can get your high school volunteer hours by volunteering with the CMLA?), CMLA alumni and community members who would like to get involved and help make our programs better.
Examples of roles we need volunteers for, many don't require lacrosse experience:
-
Signing in players as they arrive
-
Bench helpers; rotate players on the bench to make sure everyone gets fair playing time
-
Coaches; the backbone of our program, if you have coached lacrosse, hockey or other organized team sports we would LOVE to hear from you

WHAT EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED TO PLAY LACROSSE?
As we add games to our program for the Summer 2021 RTA Program we strongly suggest full equipment as lacrosse is a contact sport.

WILL THERE BE REP THIS SEASON?
We hope to host tryouts in August with a REP season starting in August - Thanksgiving. We hope to receive confirmation from the OMFLL soon that they will be running a fall field season in which case REP teams will play in this league. If fall field does not go ahead we have been in communication with neighbouring centres within zone 6 to have our REP teams play a series of exhibition games. More information will be available as plans get confirmed.
