Special Meeting: Help Us Finalize Our ONCA Compliance!
The Executive Committee of the Clarington Minor Lacrosse Association (CMLA) has called a Special Meeting to finalize updates to our governing documents. Your participation is essential!
Date: Thursday, December 12, 2024
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: Online via Google Meet ([Click here to join])
Why is this Special Meeting Being Held?
To comply with Ontario’s Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA), the CMLA has updated its Constitution and By-laws. These changes were made with guidance from the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) to meet legal requirements while preserving the values and decisions of our membership.
Given the considerable changes required to ensure compliance and streamline our governance, we will be voting to adopt the revised Constitution and By-laws in their entirety, rather than amending them section by section. These updates reflect significant changes needed to align with ONCA regulations and streamline our governance by separating operational policies from the governing documents. As part of this process, nine standalone policies have been adopted, which are available on our website.
What Do These Changes Mean?
-
Constitution & By-laws: These documents outline how CMLA is governed, including membership, elections, and organizational structure.
-
Policies: Operational guidelines, now separate from the By-laws, reflect our mission, vision, and values.
What Can You Do?
-
Review the proposed Constitution and By-laws, posted here.
-
Attend the meeting to vote and ensure CMLA remains compliant and continues to thrive as a community organization.
Your vote matters! Join us on December 12th to help shape the future of CMLA.
