Box Lacrosse

Our Rep Box Lacrosse program is designed for athletes looking to compete, improve, and represent the Gaels at a higher level. With a focus on development, structure, and accountability, our teams provide a competitive environment that challenges players to elevate their game. Through league play and tournaments, our athletes build skills, confidence, and a strong sense of team while proudly representing Clarington across Zone 6 and Southern Ontario.

CMLA was founded in 2001 and fielded its first rep box team in 2003, a U9 Tyke team. While that inaugural season came without a win, the group returned in 2004 with determination and resilience, earning silver at the Ontario Lacrosse Festival (Provincial Box Championships), as well as silver finishes in the Zone 6 Playoffs, Six Nations Confederacy Challenge, Hamilton Super Series, and the Peterborough Laker Classic. Learn more about our amazing #GaelsNation team legacy here!

That season set the standard for what it means to be a Gael, playing with heart, commitment, never giving up, and true teamwork. Most of those athletes went on to compete at the Junior and Senior levels, with several advancing to the National Lacrosse League, Premier Lacrosse League, and even the National Hockey League! What will your lacrosse legacy be? See our alumni legacy here!

As we continue to build the future of box lacrosse in Clarington, we do so with respect for those who paved the way, carrying forward a legacy built on pride, perseverance, and a passion for the game. We brought this spirit and determination to the floor in 2024 when our U17 Midget team won the Ontario Summer Games, the Ontario Provincial 'A' Division Box Lacrosse Championship!

The Box Season

Box lacrosse offers a fast-paced, high-repetition environment that accelerates player development. With more touches, tighter spaces, and increased game intensity, athletes build:

  • Stick skills and ball control

  • Game awareness and decision-making

  • Physical play and resilience

  • Position-specific development

This phase of the season is where players refine their game and compete at a high level against top centres across the province.

One Team, One Season

CMLA Rep teams are built as a continuous program, with the same roster progressing from field into box lacrosse (U9+).

This model provides:

  • Consistent coaching and development

  • Stronger team chemistry and accountability

  • A complete lacrosse experience across both disciplines

Players are expected to commit to the full season, supporting their teammates and representing the Gaels throughout both field and box competition.

Girls Box Lacrosse

CMLA proudly offers girls box lacrosse programming, providing opportunities for female athletes to compete and develop within the sport.

Girls teams compete within OLA-sanctioned leagues and events, with pathways that continue to grow each season. Our program focuses on:

  • Skill development and confidence

  • Competitive opportunities

  • Growing the girls game within our community

We remain committed to expanding opportunities for female athletes and supporting their continued development in lacrosse.

Commitment & Expectations

Rep box lacrosse is a competitive program that requires commitment from both players and families. Athletes are expected to:

  • Attend practices and games consistently

  • Demonstrate effort, accountability, and respect

  • Represent CMLA with pride on and off the floor

Whether competing for a championship or developing for the future, every player plays a role in building our program and continuing the Gaels legacy.
