As the 2025 Spring Field and Box seasons are coming to an end, the CMLA has released a survey to gauge interest in participation for the 2025 Fall Sixes season.
The CMLA has been advised of the following tentative details regarding the 2025 Fall Sixes season. Please note that this information remains subject to change as final decisions are still being confirmed at the provincial level.
We want to emphasize that the structure, timelines, format, and rules for Fall Sixes are determined by the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA). While we understand that families may have questions or concerns, we ask for your patience and understanding as we await final direction from the governing body.
As always, CMLA will do our best to support our athletes and families within the framework provided, and we thank you in advance for maintaining respectful communication as we navigate the season ahead.
Information:
Dates:
Season Start: To be determined
Concluding Provincials: October 25 - 26th, 2025 in Hamilton, ON
Practice Nights: To be determined based upon interest - likely weeknights
Game Days: To be determined by teams within Zone 6 - the format will follow the same format as the Box season, requiring teams to play a minimum of ten (10) games to qualify for Provincials. There is no maximum amount of games a team can participate in.
Note: Games cannot be scheduled during the Labour Day or Thanksgiving weekends.
What equipment is allowed?
Boys/ Co-Ed: Helmet, and gloves are the minimum, the other equipment is optional.
Note: The CMLA may require additional equipment be worn by all CMLA players, above just the helmet and gloves.Â
Girls Only: Goggles, Gloves
Goalies: Same equipment as field lacrosse is required
Game Information:
Duration: Four, Ten Minute Periods
Players:Â Six players, including goalie
Age Groups: Fall Sixes is open to U9 and above. Any ability to run a program for U7 ages would occur in an in-house house league style format. If you are a U7 parent and wish to participate, please let us know in the survey.
Roster Size: 15 total players per team
Possession:Â Teams are given a limited time to take a shot on goal after gaining possession (usually around 30 seconds)
Penalties: Similar to traditional lacrosse, penalties result in the player serving time in the penalty box, leaving their team short-handed for the duration of the penalty
No Faceoffs: After goals, play restarts with the team that conceded the goal passing the ball in from behind the goal.
Please Note: This survey is intended to gather expressions of interest only. It will be used by the CMLA, in consultation with other Zone Six teams, to assess potential levels of participation for the 2025 Fall Sixes season. This could be full participation in Representative level Fall Sixes, an in-house Fall Sixes House League style program, no program, or other alternative options.
Details are still being finalized, and all games are expected to be played within Zone Six. As such, CMLA’s ability to proceed will depend on the participation of other centres and the availability of suitable facilities to host games. These conversations are already occurring.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work with our partners across the Zone to explore viable options for the season.
